CSX Transportation is facing a fine after a train blocked three railroad crossings in downtown Cartersville for around two hours on Thursday afternoon,

According to WBHF Radio in Cartersville, Mayor Matt Santini and the City Council decided to enforce Section 19-3 of the Code of Ordinances that states “It shall be unlawful to obstruct any street crossing within the corporate limits with any freight cars or train for a longer time than ten minutes with the train stopped, unless a longer time shall be necessary to enable it to perform its duties as a common carrier.”

As a result, CSX Transportation is being fined $3,000 ($1,000 for each crossing).
