Gas prices level off after a big jump at the pumps last week

Gas prices plateaued over the weekend, after an unseasonable jump at the pumps last week.

Gas prices throughout the state rose an average of 6 cents in 5 days. Some of the highest weekly hikes were in Valdosta and Gainesville rising 9 cents each and Atlanta going up 8 cents.

The state average's steady climb began to slow over the weekend.
The most expensive gas prices in Georgia are in Atlanta at $2.45 a gallon and Brunswick going for $2.44.

The least expensive gas price averages in Georgia are in Catoosa -Dade-Walker $2.29 and Dalton $2.30.

On Monday, gas could be found for as low as $2.27 in Rome, according to gasbuddy.com.
The lowest price was $2.25 in Calhoun and $2.29 in Cartersville and Cedartown.
