Man charged with aggravated assault

A Rome man was arrested over the weekend on a felony aggravated assault charge.

According to Floyd County Jail records, Charles Edward Young II of a Shorter Avenue address attempted to murder a Florida woman by strangulation at a location on New Calhoun Highway.

Young was booked into the Floyd County Jail on Saturday.
 

 

Man charged with false imprisonment

A man was arrested Saturday accused of confining a woman inside his Dodd Boulevard residence and preventing her from leaving.

According to Floyd County Jail records, 30-year old Lamar Brandon Gaston also allegedly battered the woman in the presence of two children and destroyed a TV stand belonging to the victim.

He is charged with felony false imprisonment, battery, criminal trespass, and two counts of 3rd-degree cruelty to children.

 

Report: Man had meth at jail

A man arrested on an active warrant is facing additional charges after methamphetamine was reportedly found hidden in his private parts at the Floyd County Jail Saturday.

According to jail records, 33-year old Bobby Joe Tidwell of a Sunset Drive address was charged with possession of meth, crossing the guard line at the jail with drugs, and tampering with evidence.

He was also charged with possession with the intent to distribute because the amount of meth he had was an amount greater than for personal use, according to the arrest report.

 

Man charged with being a fugitive from justice

FLOYD COUNTY JAIL RECORDS

A Cedar Bluff, Alabama man was booked into the Floyd County Jail Sunday on charges of being a fugitive from justice and felony bail jumping.

According to Rome Police reports, 33-year old Paul Alexandre Chadwick was observed grabbing a shirt off of a shelf at Belk in Mount Berry Square Mall and then concealing it.

He also reportedly grabbed a hat off the shelf and walked around from department to department.

Police responded and ran a check on Chadwick through GCIC and discovered that he had felony warrants for failure to appear in court through Cherokee County, Alabama, and Rome.

Chadwick was also charged with shoplifting.
