Warrants: Teens conspired to sell drugs to benefit street gang
Two Rome teens have been arrested on felony warrants charging them with participation in a criminal street gang.
According to the warrants:
18-year-old Carlos Jamiane Sams Jr. and 18-year-old Christopher Rashon Smith Jr. were members of a criminal street gang and conspired with other gang members to sell drugs on July 14.
Both Sams and Smith are additionally charged with conspiracy to violate Georgia’s Controlled Substances Act.
Man accused of conspiring to leave contraband at prison work detail
A 43-year-old Rome man is accused of conspiring to introduce contraband into the Floyd County Prison.
According to the arrest warrants:
43-year-old Patrick Damone Turner and the inmate were heard during a recorded phone call discussing where to leave the contraband at East View Cemetery.
A work detail officer at the cemetery found a brown bag, which included five packs of cigarettes, 8.39 grams of marijuana, and 14.55 grams of methamphetamine.
Turner is charged with possession of items prohibited for inmates, conspiracy to commit a crime, possession of drugs with the intent to distribute, and use of a communications facility to commit a drug crime.
Warrant: Man broke woman’s arm during argument
A 54-year-old Rome man was arrested at his Wayside Road home Wednesday after he allegedly broke a woman’s arm.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
Mack Grambling Moats Jr. grabbed the victim’s arms during an argument and then twisted it.
Moats is also accused of not coming to the door after deputies instructed him to do so.
He is charged with aggravated battery and obstruction of law enforcement.
Man facing multiple charges, including having drugs at the jail and failing to register as a sex offender
A Silver Creek man is facing multiple charges following his arrest on Lyons Drive at Shorter Avenue Wednesday.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
51-year-old Ronald Eric McDaniel was found with a small bag containing suspected methamphetamine which was concealed in his right sock.
Once at the jail, two glass pipes and a small amount of marijuana were found in his belongings.
McDaniel is charged with possession of meth, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, crossing the guard line at the jail with drugs, and possession of drug-related objects.
McDaniel is also being held on two warrants, charging him with failing to register as a sex offender.
Two suspects in entering autos case facing more charges
More charges have been filed against two Rome men initially arrested late last month for entering multiple vehicles on Windrush Drive.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
21-year-old Tyler Michael Zachary and 19-year-old Nicholas Brandon Worthy also entered a vehicle on Green Acre Road on July 24, taking property belonging to the victim.
Zachary and Worthy are each charged with entering an auto and theft by taking.
Two charged with financial transaction card fraud
Two Rome women are accused of using someone else’s debit card to pay the power bill at their Northside Lane residence.
According to the arrest warrant:
47-year-old Debra Christina Phillips and 30-year-old Christina Nicole Paynter paid $217 to Georgia Power on April 8 using the debit card.
Both are charged with financial transaction card fraud.
Phillips is additionally charged with a probation violation.
