Rome man arrested in carjacking incident

Dravus Chaise Christian Dupree

A Rome man is facing multiple charges in connection with a reported carjacking that occurred last week on Lyons Drive.

According to an arrest warrant and Floyd County Jail records:

20-year-old Dravus Chaise Christian Dupree jumped into a woman’s vehicle, pointed a firearm at the victim, and told her to get out.

Dupree, who was wearing a face covering and hood, then stole the vehicle.

He fled from officers, driving into oncoming traffic, leaving the roadway, and running over a street sign.

Dupree is charged with aggravated assault, armed robbery, hijacking a motor vehicle, fleeing or attempting to elude, pointing a gun at another, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, wearing a mask or hood to conceal his identity, interference with government property, reckless driving, duty upon striking a fixture, too fast for conditions, failure to maintain a lane, driving on the wrong side of the road, and improper lane change.

Meanwhile, a 38-year-old woman was arrested along with Dupree after she allegedly told officers that he was not in her residence, when he actually was.

Ranesha Shantay Dupree is charged with a felony count of aiding or permitting another to escape lawful custody or confinement.
