Shorter University –

Shorter University gets the special privilege of hosting Coach Mark Richt for the first time after
he is being inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame.
It was announced in January of 2023 that Coach Mark Richt was elected to the College Football
Hall of Fame. The 2023 class will officially be inducted during the 65th National Football
Foundation Annual Awards Dinner on December 5 in Las Vegas.
Just two short days later, on December 7, Coach Mark Richt will be speaking at the Shorter
University annual President’s Gala. Our university is honored to be hosting such a special guest
for our event this year.
We are calling all football fans because it is not often that you get the chance to meet a famous
College Football Hall of Fame inductee. Come and join us at our event to hear the beloved
college football coach, bring a special message about his life and the impact this new award has
had on him.
Coach Richt served as the head football coach for the University of Georgia and the University
of Miami for eighteen seasons. Throughout his career, his teams won two SEC championships,
five SEC division championships, and one ACC division title. He was a two-time SEC coach of
the year, the 2017 ACC coach of the year, and the recipient of the 2017 Walter Camp National
Coach of the Year award. He was recently inducted into the 2023 Peach Bowl Hall of Fame and
the 2023 Georgia Sports Hall of Fame.
The annual President’s Gala is held at Shorter University in Rome, Georgia, and is a night of
celebration. This event allows our guests to come together to celebrate all the university has
accomplished over the last year, while directly benefiting the student scholarship fund.
We promise you do not want to miss this special event.
