Man charged with exploitation of the elderly, theft
A 37-year-old Rome man has been arrested on a felony warrant charging him with exploitation of the elderly.
According to the warrant:
In September of this year, Jamal Rayshad May took $3,100 from the elderly victims with the understanding he was to perform a moving service for them.
May then told the victims he was robbed of the money and needed more funds to complete the job.
The work was never done.
May is also charged with felony theft by taking.
Man charged with terroristic threats and acts, simple battery and criminal trespass
A Rome man was arrested early Thursday following an incident on South Avery Road home.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
56-year-old Jeffery Lynn Carter told a woman that she would be dead if he went to jail.
He also grabbed the victim, causing an injury, and busted a tail light on the woman’s vehicle.
Report: Woman prevented man from leaving residence
A Rome woman faces charges following an incident on Wednesday on Rogers Drive.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
38-year-old Talina Lopez detained a man without legal authority by slamming a door, keeping him from leaving.
The victim’s hand was caught in the door as it was being slammed, causing a visible injury.
Lopez is charged with false imprisonment and simple battery.
