Two charged in burglary on Berry College property

Two Rome men were arrested on Christmas Day for 1st-degree burglary and criminal trespass.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

41-year-old Robert Shane Cochran and 29-year-old Jesse Alan Eaves were in a vehicle that was seen turning onto Berry College property on Martha Berry Highway.

The two were then observed attempting to load up a stove, valued at $600.

While being booked at the jail, Eaves was found with a small bag of methamphetamine and was additionally charged with possession of meth and possession of items prohibited for inmates.

Man charged with felony obstruction of officers

A 53-year-old Rome man is accused of trying to pull a knife during a struggle on Nixon Avenue over the weekend.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Robert Alexander Langston fled from six officers, refused to put his hands behind his back, and attempted to retrieve an open pocket knife.

He is charged with felony and misdemeanor obstruction, possession of a knife during the commission of a crime, and a probation violation.

52-year-old Antione Leonard Langston was also arrested and charged with hindering apprehension, misdemeanor obstruction, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of marijuana.

Man jailed following high-speed pursuit

A Rockmart Man was arrested following a police pursuit where speeds reached up to 140 miles per hour in a 55-mile-per-hour zone in the East Rome area Saturday.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

29-year-old Demonte Christopher Dawson ran through a stop sign and a red light and drove on the wrong side of the road.

He also resisted arrest and was found with suspected marijuana.

Dawson is charged with fleeing or attempting to elude, speeding, failure to obey traffic control devices, driving on the wrong side of the roadway, failure to maintain a lane, driving without insurance, misdemeanor obstruction, and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.

Man charged with aggravated assault

A Rockmart man was recently arrested on charges of aggravated assault and criminal trespass.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

49-year-old Corey James Espy assaulted a 48-year-old woman and then damaged property belonging to her.

Jail records listed the location of the offense at 450 Riverside Parkway in Rome, which is the Floyd County DFCS building.

Warrant: Lindale man threatened to murder woman

A Lindale man was arrested in connection with an incident on Avenue D on December 10.

According to an arrest warrant:

24-year-old Michael Wesley Griffin threatened to murder a woman and vandalize her car.

Witnesses overheard the threats.

Griffin is charged with terroristic threats and acts, and simple assault.

Woman accused of punching, and kicking police officer

A homeless woman was recently arrested on a charge of simple battery against a law enforcement officer.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

25-year-old Chelesey Trianne Octavia Burt punched a police officer and then kicked him as she was being placed under arrest.

Burt is also charged with two counts of failure to appear in court.

Two arrested for drug trafficking

The execution of a search warrant at a home on Perry Farm Road in Cave Spring resulted in the arrest of two people on methamphetamine trafficking charges.

According to the warrants and Floyd County Jail records:

60-year-old Douglas Steven Knowles and 57-year-old Pamela Renee Lane had over an ounce of meth, over an ounce of marijuana, digital scales, baggies, firearms, altered firearms, gabapentin pills, clonazepam, and other drugs not in the original containers.

Knowles and Lane are additionally charged with possession of meth, possession of meth with the intent to distribute, felony possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance, possession of dangerous drugs, possession of drug-related objects, possession of pills not in the original container, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Two arrested for drug at East Rome Walmart

Two people are facing drug charges following their arrests at the East Rome Walmart Saturday.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

54-year-old Michael Phillip Whitaker of Telford, Tennessee took a watch and pliers valued at just over $53 from the store.

He and 51-year-old Pamela Diann Reese Askew of Shannon were then found with nine gabapentin pills, two THC gummies, methamphetamine, a smoking device, a digital scale, and an open bottle of beer.

Whitaker and Askew are charged with possession of Schedule I and Schedule V controlled substances, possession of meth, possession of drug-related objects, and open container.

Whitaker is also charged with giving a false name to law enforcement and with being a fugitive from justice for having an active warrant for his arrest in Florida.

Traffic stop nets arrest of man on drugs, weapons charges

A traffic stop for a broken brake light on Highway 411 at Craton Road Saturday ended with the arrest of a Silver Creek man on multiple charges.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

The vehicle driven by 51-year-old Robert Brian Holt was following a K9 indication.

Methamphetamine, multiple baggies of marijuana, a firearm, syringes, and a glass pipe were seized.

Holt tried to run from police and was caught following a short foot pursuit.

He is charged with possession of meth, possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of drug-related objects, misdemeanor obstruction of officers, and failure to change the address on his driver’s license.

Man arrested in South Rome on drug charges

A 62-year-old Rome man was arrested at Hardy Avenue and Myrtle Street Saturday on drug charges.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Harold Anthony Bailey provided police with a false name and was then found with a crack pipe, suspected crack cocaine, and marijuana.

Bailey is charged with possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana, possession of drug-related objects, giving a false name or address to law enforcement, and a probation violation.
