-City of Rome-
Tickets are on sale now for tours of Rome’s most recognizable landmark.
The Rome Area History Center will host public tours of the Rome Clocktower on Saturday, April 6.
According to Kristi Kent with the City of Rome, this will be your only opportunity to tour the clock tower this year.
“The reason being is that we have some SPLOST funds in the city to help with some structural repairs,” she said. “They have moved the project up and so we have already put out a bid for contractors. We should be getting those back soon and we will have a better idea of the construction timetable, but they wanted to go ahead and prepare for it.”
Visitors can view murals that depict the history of Rome from its founding through present-day at the interior base of the tower. To get the best views and the best selfies, climb the 107 stairs to the top for an expansive, 360 degree panorama of Georgia’s Rome.
Tickets are available in 30-minute time slots between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Tickets are required for entry; cost is $10 per person and must be reserved in advance. Proceeds from all public and private tours benefit the Rome Clocktower Restoration Fund. Purchase tickets online at: RomeGeorgia.org/ClocktourTour.
