Mail service delays with absentee ballots

-Floyd County Office of Elections and Registration-

The Floyd County Office of Elections and Registration has identified significant issues with absentee ballots placed in the mail service and the return rate of those absentee ballots. Over 400 ballots have been mailed for the May 21 General Primary/Nonpartisan Election and less than 200 have been returned to the Elections Office for counting.

The Election office asks that if you have received your absentee ballot and you are able, please deliver it to the ballot collection drop box located at the Floyd County Election Center, 18 East 12th Street, or the Elections Main Office in the same location. If you have requested an absentee ballot and it has not been received, please email [email protected] with your name and address. You may also contact the Elections Office at (706) 291-5167.

“On behalf of the Floyd County Election office, we apologize for any issues you may encounter with mail delays,” said Election Supervisor Akyn Beck. “We appreciate your cooperation while we do our best to mitigate delays beyond our control and outside our scope of practice.”

Early Voting continues through Friday, May 17, 2024 from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at three locations: Elections Center, Anthony Recreation Center, and Thornton Recreation Center. If you have requested an absentee ballot, you may still vote in person early or on election day.
