Report: Man threatened woman in front of child

A Lindale man was arrested Sunday following an incident at his West First Avenue home.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

28-year-old Jeffrey Raiden Smith grabbed a woman’s arm and twisted it.

He then grabbed the victim’s hair, pulling her to the bed where he started hitting her in the head.

The incident was witnessed by five children with Smith telling one of the children to leave the room because he was going to kill the victim.

When the victim tried to call 911, Smith took her phone and threw it out of her reach.

Smith is charged with battery, terroristic threats and acts, obstructing a person from making a 911 call, 1st-degree cruelty to children, and 3rd-degree cruelty to children.

Man charged with aggravated assault

A 29-year-old Rome man has been arrested on felony warrants charging him with aggravated assault and 2nd-degree criminal damage to property.

According to the warrants:

Hector Raul Hernandez-Guerra pointed a pistol at another man during an argument on Mardi Way back on August 31.

Hernandez-Guerra also caused more than $500 in damage to the passenger side window of a woman’s car.

Woman accused of shoplifting while having a firearm

A Texas Valley woman was jailed over the weekend on charges of felony theft by shoplifting and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

65-year-old Cynthia Coskrey Coryea placed more than $500 in merchandise in reusable bags at Publix in Rome and then passed all points of sale without attempting to pay.

She was also in possession of a firearm during the incident.

Woman charged with possession of meth, tampering with evidence

Police responded to a report of a domestic dispute on Hicks Drive over the weekend and end up arresting an Armuchee woman on drug charges.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

41-year-old Misti Ann Smith was found with suspected methamphetamine, which she threw onto the property of 154 Hicks Drive in an attempt to avoid prosecution.

She is charged with possession of meth, tampering with evidence, and littering.
