One person is dead in a crash that occurred on the connector just west of Highway 411 Friday morning.
According to Rome Police:
“At approximately 6:42 am on Friday November 8, 2024, emergency responders were called to an accident on the East Rome Bypass (Ga Loop 1) just west of Wilbanks Road.
According to the preliminary investigation, a 2011 Nissan Armada driven by Ms. Tiffany Nicole Smith, age 40 of Rome, crossed over the median and struck a 2010 Ford F-150 driven by Mr. Timothy Dewayne Reynolds, age 45 of Silver Creek.
The Nissan Armada was also occupied by two juveniles.
Occupants from both vehicles were transported to local hospitals for treatment; the driver of the Armada was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into this incident is ongoing by the Rome Police Department Accident Investigation Team (AIT).”
