On Friday evening (December 27), deputy sheriffs responded to a report of an intruder at a private residence on Fox Street.
The complainant had discovered an unidentified male hiding in a closet in a juvenile’s bedroom and confronted him about being in the home.
The male subject fled on foot before deputies arrived.
Detectives were called to the scene and an investigation was initiated.
Witnesses were questioned and physical evidence was collected.
Working throughout the night, deputies were able to positively identify the perpetrator.
19-year-old Sergio Hernandez-Vicente, of Peters Street in Calhoun, was arrested without incident and charged with statutory rape and child molestation.
