Report: Man drove his vehicle toward woman

A Rome man is facing a felony aggravated assault charge and a misdemeanor count of reckless driving following an incident on Mathis Road on Tuesday.

According to Floyd County jail records:

22-year-old Garrett Britt Strickland drove his vehicle in a reckless manner toward a woman, putting the victim in fear for her life.

Strickland also resisted arrest, resulting in an additional charge of obstruction.

Man accused of fleeing from police

A North Rome man is facing multiple charges after allegedly fleeing from police on Tuesday.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

40-year-old Antonio Lee McConnell ran multiple stop signs, crossed the double yellow line, and drove on the wrong side of the road while fleeing at more than 80 miles per hour in a 40-mile-per-hour zone.

He also fled on foot.

McConnell was found in possession of methamphetamine, Adderall, less than an ounce of marijuana, a scale, and a firearm.

He is charged with fleeing or attempting to elude, possession of meth, possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute, misdemeanor possession of marijuana, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, failure to maintain a lane, speeding, driving on the wrong side of the road, running a stop sign, obstruction of officers, failure to apply for a new license within 60 days of a name change or change of address, a tail light violation, and a probation violation.

Two arrested on North Fifth Avenue on drug charges

Two people were arrested on drug charges during the execution of a search warrant at an apartment at 800 North Fifth Avenue early Wednesday.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Cocaine, methamphetamine, fentanyl pills, a small amount of marijuana, digital scales, and smoking devices were located in the home.

64-year old Annette Louise Wofford and 46-year old Waschunn Keyatta Wofford Sr. are charged with possession of cocaine, possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute, possession of meth, possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, and possession of drug-related objects.

Traffic stop results in cocaine, meth possession charges

A Rome woman was arrested on drug charges during a traffic stop on Highway 53 at Burlington Road on Tuesday.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

45-year-old Misty Jo Adams was found with suspected methamphetamine and cocaine.

Inmate accused of filing a false sexual assault report

An inmate at the Floyd County Jail has been charged with a felony count of false statements and writings.

According to jail records:

29-year-old Brittany Jean Cowan made a false sexual assault report against another inmate.

Cowan has been in jail since January after being arrested for 2nd-degree cruelty to children and warrants charging her with a probation violation.
