Man accused of pulling a gun on two people
A West Rome man is facing aggravated assault charges following an incident at his South Sycamore Street residence.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
24-year-old Cody Neil Fortenberry brandished a firearm and racked it in the presence of two women in order to intimidate them.
Report: Man with a machete threatens woman in West Rome
A homeless man was arrested after allegedly making a death threat against a person on Shorter Avenue at Lyons Drive on Thursday.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
33-year-old Ricardo Debrun Hill was holding a machete when he made the threat against the victim, who had previously dated.
He then failed to immediately stop when police officers were attempting to speak to him.
Hill is charged with terroristic threats and acts and obstruction.
Man charged with child molestation
A man arrested on August 8 on felony counts of grooming a minor has additionally been charged with child molestation and sexual battery.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
65-year-old Garry Duane Hand of Cedartown attempted to kiss and touch a child under the age of 12 at a location in Lindale sometime between 2024 and 2025.
Man accused of stealing 4-wheeler during burglary
Charges have been filed in a burglary that occurred on July 1 on North Drive in Armuchee.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
58-year-old Harold James Mantooth of Rome took a Honda 4-wheeler, valued at $700, from the dwelling.
Mantooth, who is charged with 1st-degree burglary, has been in jail since July 15 after being charged with theft by deception, violation of Georgia’s Sex Offender Registry law, and a couple of probation violations.
Cobb County man charged with possession of heroin
A Marietta man has been returned to Floyd County to face a felony drug charge.
According to an arrest warrant:
27-year-old Jorge Luis Peralestorres was found with heroin during a wreck investigation back on May 7 at Turner McCall Boulevard and East 8th Street.
The heroin was found in his sock by medical personnel who were treating him.
In addition to possession of a controlled substance, Peralestorres is also charged with obstruction of officers, giving a false name or date of birth, and driving with a suspended license.
Two charged with cocaine possession
A Rome woman and a Lindale man were jailed Thursday for possession of cocaine.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
A vehicle was stopped on Maple Road due to one of the occupants having active arrest warrants.
A baggie of cocaine was seized following a K9 indication.
61-year-old Debra Alice Doss is also charged with a couple of probation violations, while 70-year-old Oscar Bernard Lewis is additionally charged with a parole violation.
Woman charged with false statements and writings
A Rome woman is accused of lying to Rome Police regarding a shoplifting and hit-and-run incident that occurred in May at Belk’s
According to an arrest warrant and Floyd County Jail records:
44-year-old Lakisha Montera Watkins told investigators that she was not involved in either incident and that she was not even at Belk’s that day.
However, video surveillance showed otherwise.
Watkins is charged with false statements and writings and obstruction.
