On Friday afternoon, Corey L. Townsend, Senior Vice President at Ameris Bank, announced his candidacy for Floyd County Commission Post 4.
Drawing on his finance, management, and community service background, Townsend aims to address key local issues, including fiscal management and economic development.
“My platform focuses on three areas: Fiscal Responsibility, Economic Development, and Workforce,” Townsend said. “I look forward to working with the community to ensure sustainable growth and opportunities for all residents.”
Since moving to Floyd County in 2017 with his wife, Brandie, and their two daughters, Townsend has been actively involved in local organizations such as the Floyd County Development Authority and the Rome Floyd Chamber.
He has also served on several government boards and committees, including the Floyd County Board of Elections and the 2023 SPLOST Committee.
Townsend plans to discuss his platform with voters in the coming weeks.
