Woman charged in scheme to smuggle contraband into the Floyd County Prison
A 71-year-old Aragon woman has been jailed on a felony charge of possession of items prohibited for inmates.
According to an arrest warrant:
Levon Evelyn Ward worked with another person to smuggle drugs and tobacco into the Floyd County Prison back in July.
Authorities were able to intercept a package that was left underneath the mowing deck of a tractor on Minshew Mountain Road.
It contained 25.75 grams of methamphetamine, 106.8 grams of marijuana, and three pounds of tobacco.
Man charged with cocaine possession
A Rome man has been arrested on a felony warrant charging him with possession of cocaine.
According to the warrant:
51-year-old Jacob Gaterri Ragland was found in possession of 5 grams of cocaine during the execution of a search warrant at a home on Wilson Avenue back on October 5.
He was taken into custody Tuesday in the lobby at the Floyd County Jail.
