Floyd County Schools’ four-year graduation rate for the Class of 2023 is marked official at 95.31%, according to data released by the Georgia Department of Education.
This rate exceeds the state’s rate of 84.4% and last year’s FCS graduation rate by two points.
“The graduation rate is a confirmation of the dedication and effort of our teachers, administrators, and support staff and I am extremely proud of everyone in FCS,” stated Dr. Glenn White. “This effort is a system-wide team effort and it begins in Pre-K and travels all the way up until the day of graduation. This not only shows the dedication of our students as they work hard to graduate from high school, but the dedication to all of our teachers, administrators, and stakeholders. Thank you to everyone involved in this team effort and for your continuous efforts in allowing our students to succeed.”
In addition to the system graduation rate topping 95%, all four high schools in the system were also significantly above the state average in the state report.
“I’m incredibly proud of Georgia’s high-school seniors – and the teachers, leaders, and families who have supported them to produce these results,” State School Superintendent Richard Woods said. “It’s important to remember that the positive news we’ve received lately – from this historic-high graduation rate to Georgia students beating the national average on the SAT – is more than just numbers. Every data point represents an actual student and new opportunities that have opened up for their future. I’m confident we’ll continue to see positive results as we invest in academic recovery and building a student-centered educational system.”
