Man charged with fleeing or attempting to elude, sexual battery
A Rome man is accused of fleeing from law enforcement.
According to the arrest warrants
55-year-old Timothy James Thomas fled from a traffic stop, reaching speeds of 70 in a 35-mile-per-hour zone on Friday in the area of Dean Avenue.
He nearly side-swiped a truck on East 19th Street, and ran a stop sign before driving his vehicle into a ditch on Hull Avenue.
Thomas is also facing charges in an incident on July 1 in which he grabbed a woman’s buttocks.
That incident, which occurred in the parking lot of Thomas’ residence on Callier Springs Road, was observed by a witness.
Thomas is charged with fleeing or attempting to elude, open container, speeding, reckless driving, a stop sign violation, driving with a suspended or revoked license, sexual battery, simple battery, and a probation violation.
Inmate facing charges
An inmate at the Floyd County Jail has been charged with interference with government property, terroristic threats and acts, battery, unlawful acts of violence in a penal institution, and obstruction of law enforcement.
According to jail records:
28-year-old Richard David Whittington of Rome struck a wall-mounted television with a food tray, shattering the screen.
He also hit another inmate in the back, causing red marks.
Whittington threatened to kill the victim and jail officers.
He also refused to follow commands and resisted officers.
Woman charged with meth possession
An Aragon woman was booked into the Floyd County Jail over the weekend on a possession of methamphetamine charge.
According to an arrest warrant:
44-year-old Lorinda Sisson Morgan was found with a crystal-like substance believed to be meth at a location on Rockmart Highway back on January 20.
Report: Man found with THC during traffic stop
A Cave Spring man arrested for driving under the influence is also facing drug charges.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
43-year-old Rodney Donnell Toombs was found with high-concentrate THC gummies and a small amount of marijuana during the traffic stop on Turner McCall Boulevard at East Eighth Street.
Tombs is charged with a felony count of possession of THC and a misdemeanor count of possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.
