Texas man accused of leading police on a chase in Downtown Rome
A Texas man was jailed after allegedly fleeing from Rome Police in Downtown Rome on Saturday evening.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
A vehicle driven by 28-year-old Victor Ray Gonzales was clocked going 60 in a 25-mile-per-hour zone on East First Street near East Third Avenue.
He drove recklessly and at a high rate of speed through the crosswalk on Broad Street at Third Avenue, with multiple pedestrians present.
Gonzales is charged with fleeing or attempting to elude, reckless driving, speeding, failure to maintain a lane, and failure to yield for a crosswalk.
Woman charged with child cruelty
An Armuchee woman was arrested at her Tency Lane residence over the weekend and charged with 1st-degree cruelty to children.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
52-year-old Patricia Katherine Gonzalez grabbed a family member, who is a minor, by the hair and pulled her down with it.
She also grabbed the victim’s arm, leaving a red mark
Gonzalez is additionally charged with simple battery.
Man charged with theft of services, possession of drugs
A Lindale man was jailed over the weekend on charges of theft of services and possession of a Schedule I controlled substance.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
19-year-old Jeffrey Allen Hughes III ordered a taxi ride to Lindale and back to Rome for $30 with having the proper payment.
He was also in possession of a red, mushroom-shaped tablet that he said was a “magic mushroom.”
Woman arrested during traffic stop in West Rome
A Cedar Bluff, Alabama woman was arrested during a traffic stop on Sunday on Shorter Avenue at Huffaker Road.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
26-year-old Isabella Ruth Arnold was found with two THC vapes and a bag of marijuana.
She also obstructed being placed under arrest.
Arnold is charged with possession of a Schedule I controlled substance, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, misdemeanor obstruction of officers, driving without insurance, and operation of a vehicle without a current license plate.
Man charged with violating sex offender registry law, fleeing from authorities
A Lindale man was arrested on Sunday at his Maple Avenue residence on charges of failure to comply with Georgia’s Sex Offender Registry law.
According to the arrest warrants and Floyd County Jail records:
35-year-old Trenton Tyrice Williamson provided false information on his release documents on August 17, failed to register as a sex offender, and failed to notify the sheriff’s office within 72 hours of moving to an unknown address.
When he saw law enforcement, who were executing the arrest warrants, Williamson fled on foot, and was additionally charged with misdemeanor obstruction.
Woman charged with meth possession
A homeless woman was arrested after she was reportedly seen standing in the middle of Howell Street and Wright Street in North Rome late last week.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
49-year-old Barbara Leigh Maloney also had suspected methamphetamine in her pocket book.
Maloney is charged with possession of meth and pedestrian walking on roadway.
