Cartersville police say a 28-year-old man stabbed three family members inside their home on Clearview Drive late Wednesday night.
Officers responded to a domestic violence call on Clearview Drive around 11:29 p.m. on April 29th. When they arrived, they found the suspect’s mother lying on the steps with a severe laceration to her midsection. She told officers her son had stabbed her.
Officers rushed upstairs and found the suspect, Brandon Vincent Reaves, pinned down by his father and brother. A large amount of blood covered the floor and those involved. Police quickly took Reaves into custody.
According to the family, Reaves came upstairs armed with a knife. When his father asked what he was doing, Reaves replied, “I am using it on you.” The father briefly retreated to his bedroom but came out after hearing the struggle. Reaves had already stabbed his mother. His father and brother then fought to disarm him. The mother was able to call 911 while they held Reaves down until police arrived.
All three victims suffered stab wounds:
- The mother had severe cuts and punctures to her stomach.
- The father had puncture wounds to his right arm and back.
- The brother sustained punctures to his chest, back, and leg.
Fire and EMS transported all three victims to Kennestone Hospital for treatment. Reaves also received treatment for cuts to both hands before officers transported him to the Bartow County Jail.
Reaves faces charges of aggravated assault and felony violation of probation. He had an active warrant from Bartow County at the time of the incident.
The Cartersville Police Department turned the investigation over to its Criminal Investigations Division. Officers recovered the knife used in the attack, and body-worn camera footage captured the scene.
This case remains an active investigation.
