Report: Man hit a minor
An Armuchee man was arrested on Sunday at his Martha Berry Highway apartment and charged with 1st-degree cruelty to children and battery.
According to Floyd County jail records:
45-year-old Vincent Cary Herrera hit a 13-year-old in the face, leaving a bruise and an abrasion above the victim’s left eye.
Man accused of spitting on police
A homeless man was arrested over the weekend on charges of felony obstruction of officers, simple assault, reckless conduct, and disorderly conduct.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
37-year-old Benjamin Franklin Robinson used profane language and racial slurs during an altercation at CVS on Turner McCall Boulevard.
He also spat at police officers and attempted to head butt an officer and a witness as he was being escorted to the patrol vehicle.
Robinson is also being held on a probation violation.
Man accused of damaging neon sign
A man was arrested on Friday at his Shorter Circle home on a felony count of 2nd-degree criminal damage to property.
According to an arrest warrant:
43-year-old Casey Lane Casper caused more than $1,000 in damage by climbing a pole and pulling several wires from the neon sign belonging to a Shorter Avenue business.
The incident occurred on May 4.
Two arrested on drug charges
Two people were arrested on Maple Road and Summit Drive on Sunday.
According to Floyd County jail records:
48-year-old Alex Harrison Clement of Rome was found with methamphetamine and marijuana during a traffic stop and is charged with possession of meth, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, and DUI.
17-year-old Aiden Harrison Clement of Silver Creek was found with two THC vapes and is charged with possession of a Schedule I controlled substance and two window tint violations.
Man accused of fleeing from police
A West Rome man was jailed over the weekend on charges of fleeing or attempting to elude, reckless driving, and speeding.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
A vehicle driven by 19-year-old Jonathan Cornejo was clocked going 80 in a 60-mile-per-hour zone on the West Rome bypass at Blacks Bluff Road.
When an officer attempted to stop the vehicle, Cornejo shut off his lights and continued driving.
Report: Homeless man on railroad tracks found with meth
A homeless man was arrested behind Harbor Freight on Shorter Avenue on charges of possession of methamphetamine and trespassing on railroad tracks.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
22-year-old Christian Daniel Hernandez was walking on the tracks and was then found with suspected meth.
Indiana man arrested in Shannon
A man from Fort Wayne, Indiana, was arrested over the weekend at Highway 53 at West Hermitage Road on drug charges.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
31-year-old Allen Ross Robinette was found with marijuana and a THC vape.
Robinette is charged with possession of a Schedule I controlled substance and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.
