Fifth Avenue in Downtown Rome is open again.
On Friday morning, crews removed the barriers, and traffic began flowing again around the Historic Floyd County Courthouse.
The road had been closed since the March 23 fire until the tower of the structure could be stabilized.
That stabilization work included the installation of 1,200-pound steel supports at all four corners of the tower.
Steel cables were then attached to the supports and tightened, essentially creating a band around the structure.
The engineer signed off on the work, and the road was reopened well ahead of the initial tentative date of May 22.
