A Cartersville man was killed in a motorcycle crash Saturday in Bartow County,
The crash occurred at the intersection of Highway 20 and Service Road.
According to the Georgia State Patrol:
The driver of a Dodge Journey attempted to turn left and travelled into the path of a Honda motorcycle driven by 27-year-old Connor Smith.
The Journey was struck in the driver’s side by the motorcycle.
Smith succumbed to his injuries on scene.
The female driver of the Dodge and a child passenger were transported to Piedmont Cartersville Medical Center to be treated for minor injuries.
Pedestrian killed on Joe Frank Harris Parkway
A pedestrian was killed while trying to cross Highway 41 in Cartersville.
The accident occurred at 2:12 a.m. on Monday morning.
According to Georgia State Troopers:
A 2019 Nissan Sentra was traveling north on Highway 41, in the left-turn lane.
Brian McLaughlin, age 57, of Cartersville, was walking west outside of a crosswalk, attempting to cross the highway.
McLaughlin traveled into the left-turn lane and was struck by the front of the Sentra.
McLaughlin was transported to Piedmont Cartersville Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries.
No charges are pending currently.
Woman charged with vehicular homicide
A South Carolina woman was recently booked into the Bartow County Jail on charges related to a fatal crash on Joe Frank Harris Parkway near Horseshow Road.
According to the Georgia State Patrol:
30-year-old Andrea Leigh Stegall of Greenville County, South Carolina, was driving a Toyota 4Runner southbound when she struck the rear of a Honda Accord driven by 34-year-old Ratanza Winters-Gardner of Adairsville.
Both vehicles left the west shoulder of the roadway after the impact.
Winters-Gardner died at the scene.
Stegall was taken to Piedmont Cartersville Medical Center with what troopers describe as minor injuries.
She is charged with felony 1st-degree vehicular homicide, driving under the influence of drugs, and reckless driving.
